Catch-All Email ForwardingCatch-All Email Forwarding allows you to forward ALL email from yourdomain.co.uk to any email address you choose, for example a hotmail or yahoo.com address.
Mail BoxesMail boxes allows you to add mail boxes to your account. A mail box stores mail on our server until you download it using an email client like Outlook Express.

Webmail is one of our most popular features and we operate our Webmail system on a sophisticated hardware platform. This uses state-of-the-art hardware load balancers to distribute traffic to our cluster of Webmail servers. Your messages are centrally stored on giant disk arrays and backed up each day, first to another disk array and then to tape which is stored offsite.
Email Copy to SMSEmail Copy to SMS allows you to receive copies of emails via SMS. For example you can set an email address such as sms@yourdomain.co.uk and have all the emails sent to this address automatically copied as text messages to your mobile phone.

Email SMS NotifyEmail SMS Notify allows you to get notifications of emails you've received via SMS. For example you can set an email address such as sms@yourdomain.co.uk and have custom notification messages sent to your mobile phone whenever that address gets an email message.

Our file manager has a great range of features to help you manage your files and folders online including editing, deleting, moving, copying and uploading files.
Scheduled Tasks enables a program to run automatically on the server
and can set your program to run hourly, daily, weekly or monthly.
Microsoft FrontPage ExtensionsIf you have used Microsoft FrontPage to design your website you will
need to install the Microsoft FrontPage Extensions to use all the
features.
Website Password Protection allows you to password protect a directory on your website. By keeping the password a secret you can let only people who have the password into this area. You can also edit, add or delete users and passwords.
Change Your PasswordChange Your Password allows you to change your password for FTP, FrontPage and SSH.
Backup Your WebsiteBackup Your Website allows you to download your website as a zip file. You can use this feature to make a regular backup of your website in case you lose any data.
Restore Your WebsiteRestore Your Website allows you to restore a backup zip file that you have made using eXtend.
Sub DomainsSub domains allow you to have new web addresses for separate areas of your Website. For example you could have support.yourdomain.co.uk and point this at your yourdomain.co.uk/support/ directory. You can use sub domains in conjunction with additional FTP accounts, creating in effect simple hosting accounts with a sub domain and an additional FTP account.
SSH server access allows you to login directly to the server hosting your Website. You can manipulate your Website files using Linux commands. This feature is for advanced users.
Additional FTP AccountsAdditional FTP accounts are most commonly used to give others access to an account for the purpose of sharing a web development project, without giving them control over the entire Website. By restricting their access to their home directory, you can ensure they can only modify files within this particular space.
This feature allows you to block certain IP addresses from visiting your website.
Directory IndexingDirectory Indexing allows you to either show the content of your web directories as file listings or show them as a 403 forbidden error.
Check how much web space you have used on your whole account or specify a directory within your account to check.

Our platform is designed in such a way that if any server fails another server automatically and without delay takes over that server's workload. For example, if one of our mail servers breaks down another server automatically comes online, with all the correct configuration, and takes over the work of the failed server. During this period no email is lost.
As well as this, all data is stored in two large network disk arrays. Data is automatically synchronised between the arrays so that in the event of an array failing the remaining array continues to serve data to the servers with no downtime.

Heart Internet's network operates on industry-leading network equipment from Cisco Systems. All our switches and routers are developed by Cisco. Our network is based on gigabit technology, which means that it runs at a speed of 1000 Mb per second - most web hosting networks are limited to 100 Mb per second.
Our network also utilises 100% CAT6 network cable, which contains four pairs of copper wire and, unlike CAT5, utilises all four pairs. CAT6 supports Gigabit (1000 Mbps) Ethernet and supports communications at more than twice the speed of CAT5e, which is the other popular standard for Gigabit Ethernet cabling.
Redhat is the leading provider of Linux open source software. For many years now Redhat Linux has been the number one choice for web hosting companies, not just because of Redhat's amazing scalability but also because of its track record as the most stable operating system available in the market today.
Our systems utilise the latest Redhat server technology to allow our servers to be continually up to date with Redhat system & security patches.
Unlike many of our competitors we run Redhat Enterprise Linux, the most stable release of Redhat Linux available and the only version that keeps completely up to date with security patches.
Heart Internet operates a multi-homed network utilising BGP4 technology. Simply put, we have multiple connections to the Internet with different backbone providers, should any connection fail our other connections automatically take all the traffic. Not only does this mean that we are very unlikely to lose connectivity to the Internet, but it also means that traffic moving to and from our network can choose from a range of paths to get to its final destination. This means that we have been able to configure the network always to take the fastest paths.
The Heart Internet data centre offers a secure, resilient environment for our web hosting platform. Based in a secure facility the data centre is built to an N+1 specification, so that if any particular service fails - e.g. electricity or air conditioning - another backup service automatically takes over the failed service's job.
Dual power feeds enter the building at different points and Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS) ensure that all power to the server area is clean and spike free. In the event of a power outage the UPS can take the entire data centre load for up to five minutes. However within 20 seconds our redundant generators are able to indefinitely take on the entire data centre load.
Our data centre is manned 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, so that if anything goes wrong engineers can respond quickly and effectively to the problem.
Access to our data centre is via a master access list using Smart Card authentication. Access to the data centre is by authorisation only.
CCTV operates throughout the facility.
The temperature of the data centre is kept at a steady 20oC to allow optimum equipment performance.
Our fire detection system monitors the room for any sign of fire and allows operators to respond to such a situation using a variety of fire suppression techniques.
